The next five weeks

Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort.
~ Gary Brecka
Thank you for taking the time to read what I post.
I have been doing the best I can to hold myself accountable - writing something no matter how busy I am.
It will be tough to publish something each Friday over the next five weeks.
We have the privilege of looking after our grandchildren again. They arrived last night and will be here until Labour Day. When they are here, they are my priority.
Behaviours requiring tenacity - persistence in the face of challenge - activate a part of the brain called the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC).
The aMCC grows when we consistently perform tasks we do not want to do, thereby increasing our willpower and resilience. It strengthens specifically through mental friction - engaging in activities that feel aversive or difficult.
Closing thoughts
Do one thing every day that scares you. Those small things that make us uncomfortable help us build courage to do the work we do.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Embracing discomfort is necessary to slow down degeneration and build resilience as we mature.
To age well, we have to do hard things.
No matter how challenging, I’ll do my best to share my thoughts and experiences over the next five weeks.
