Two days ago, our soon-to-be two-year-old granddaughter witnessed a robin bash into a window, land with a thud on the deck, flap around in distress, and then settle as if dead.

Loving all animals and wanting to kiss them all, she wanted to go outside to kiss the birdie's "booboo" better.

Mom and Dad said it was not safe. They intended to move it from her view, regretting that she had witnessed the suffering.

I believed the robin would recover. I saw the odd twitch here and there.

Seeing the concern in our grandchild, I asked her to blow it a healing kiss. She did. Almost immediately, the bird stood on its legs. She was ecstatic.

We spent time that day ensuring that the birdie felt loved and that all was well.

By the end of the day, the robin had healed enough to fly away. Our granddaughter was eager to tell one and all that the birdie was all better now.

Like me, she believes and witnesses miracles.

Love heals all.

What a beautiful, uplifting story! This brought back memories of seeing my first injured bird as a child. How lucky she is to have your gentle reaction and hold space for her tender feelings. Thanks too for the quote. May I never be a cynic.
