Having kids—the responsibility of rearing good, kind, ethical, responsible human beings—is the biggest job anyone can embark on.

~ Maria Shriver

My husband and I returned from South America late Tuesday night.

It was a great learning experience but far from a relaxing vacation. We boarded six different airplanes in ten days, moved from hotel to hotel five times, were transported from place to place by trains, ferries, buses, including one ten hour plus bus ride. And, we committed to adapting to elevation without medication which was manageable, but not a walk in the park.

We spent Tuesday night at our daughter's, intending to drive our three year old granddaughter to school the next morning before making the two plus hour drive home.

Because our granddaughter had a bit of a cough, we offered to bring her to our home until the weekend. Her care has been my priority over the past few days.

Quality time spent with our children and grandchildren is the greatest collective gift around Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day weekend.
