Life is 10% what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.
~ Charles R. Swindoll
Just as a plant can become more resilient when challenged by harsh growing conditions, so too can we prosper from perceived experiences of adversity.
Growing up, to feel loved, I felt the need to compensate for my social awkwardness.
Over time, I learned that the most effective way to compensate was to hide behind my books.
Because I was socially awkward, I became more studious and was rewarded with better grades.
Better grades earned me early admission to university, independence, and a more rewarding career.
Upon reflecting, I found the hidden gift in my social awkwardness.
Imagine being flawlessly attractive?
By the way, whatever happened to the popular kids in high school?
Appearance opens many doors, but it also closes some.
Perfection is overrated.
Without challenge, we do not grow.
When we practice looking for the hidden gift in our perceived flaws, we are no longer victims. We prosper.
